Edgeware Restaurant

I absolutely love coming here!
Everytime, no matter how big or small of a group I am with, we get exceptional service and amazing food. After my old favourite indian restaurant got shut down from the earthquakes I have been on mission all over Christchurch trying to find the best place, and this is definitely it.
Would recommend to all for a great experience!

I suggested this place to my husband who was helping to arrange a “work outing,” when another location proved unavailable. The occasion was about a month ago. We’d eaten here several times [I reviewed it in 2010], but I was a little apprehensive, because it is usually very busy and I wondered how they would handle a large-ish group. The answer is: Very well indeed! I think there were about 18 of us, including a few late arrivals and one person showing up unexpectedly. All appreciated the gratis papadums. Drink orders were taken and arrived promptly.
The young waitress was a bit nervous but very competent in getting our orders down right and with all the specified degrees of spiciness. We had a wide array of dishes, with much passing around and sharing. And many sounds of “yum yum” and “oooh.” This is the perfect way to have Indian food, with a large group, so that everyone can try a little of everything, including things you’ve never tried before and would not order if there on your own. Everyone seemed very pleased. Mostly I cannot recall what was ordered — but a few standout dishes were Vegetable Jalfrezi and Mango Chicken. These were two of the dishes ordered by the “mild” contingent — not me, I like my Indians food spicy hot — and I can attest that although both were mild in heat, neither was lacking in flavour and spice.
All in all an excellent evening. - MJH

The Curry Club arrived at Corianders with a booking for 21 geeks. The service was exceptional and quality of the food very good as well.
Having a group as large as this can sometimes stress a restaurant’s staff and kitchen, however they handled everything with ease. The only downside was that they ran out of kingfisher Strong which caused some dismay to some of the group.
Overall an enjoyable experience and we will return.

First time I have been here but with the dearth of restaurants in Christchurch, one has to expand the search for decent food.
The location is a bit average (in a small mall) but on entering the restaurant, I was pleasantly surprised by the warm environment and it looked like people were enjoying themselves. I was in a group of 7 so we just ordered a mix of main courses, with rice and naan bread. The food was pretty good… I very much enjoyed the chicken jalfreizee and could taste the individual spices, which is always a good thing.
I tried a few of the other dishes and they were also tasty. I’d like to come back and try a broader range of food. It’s a good local restaurant with friendly service and a warm environment. Worth a try. - DB86

Every time I want to have spicy and tasty Indian curry, can’t stop thinking about here.I dine in here lots of times and never been disappointed.I always go to lunch time because they have luch special(I think they still have but not sure how much it is now). You can choose between chicken and lamb curry, and you will get huge naan bread and lots of fluffy rice. The naan bread is made in fresh.I didn’t mind food court’s curry brefore I go here but I can’t eat soggy unfresh one anymore.Last time I went there, I ordered chicken wings as well. The dish has yoghrut sauce. That was amazing.I got orange fingers from the spice but who cares after you had great meal? I love Indian food so I have quite lots of experiences dining in Indian restaurant all over NZ but this is the best restaurant so far.neji

We’ve been coming to Corianders for 2 years or so now, and it has become our favourite restaurant. It stands head and shoulders above the others around Christchurch and indeed those that I have sampled in Auckland and Wellington. You can see the kitchens from the restaurant area and they are always immaculate and very, very clean. The staff are excellent, very friendly and very keen to see you enjoy your meal.Steve Weston

Was a great place to dine, The guys were lovely and were very professional have never been treated with so much professionalism at a resturant before. Not only was the service great but the food was really nice as well! Absolutely recommend! – The Crazy 3

Meal was yum, best naan bread I have had in a long time. I had a lamb curry, hubby had a prawn dish. both were great. - Paula D

Wow if you like Indian, you need to visit Corianders. The service is excellent, friendly & happy. The food did come out very fast which i thought was a bonus. We weren’t rushed but were in & out within an hours. The meals were full of flavour & enjoyable. I will definitely return, even for takeaways. Great price, excellent service & a lovely environment. - emz71

The four of us ended up getting doggie bags for our mains and naan, as we could not finish the amount of food after our platter. The leftovers were fantastic for lunch the next day! I would strongly recommend this place to anyone looking for an enjoyable Indian dining experience.Lauren H

We went back to Corianders last night to celebrate my birthday with some close friends. Once again the food was fantastic and the service was great. These guys really know how to make you feel welcome and at home. The restaurant was continually full and busy, but the noise and chatter wasn’t over the top, and despite the staff all being busy, they all still made time to make us feel extra welcome and happy. All the staff were very attentive to my 11 year old, who was experiencing here first Indian meal (ironically, her name is India), and were very helpful with food choices that she might like and drinks for her. They even gave her a free ice-cream at the end of the meal while she was patiently sitting there waiting for the adults to finish our wines and go home. Going that extra mile for us was so totally unexpected and very, very much appreciated. We will definitely be going back again and again. The food and the service just continually improves. Keep up the fantastic work!Familyof4

Really consistantly good food, service, and atmosphere.Silkwood

I have eaten at many indian restaurants in many cities & this is by far the best indian food I have ever eaten. Whether requested “hot” or “as it comes” you can still taste all the wonderful flavours. The takeaway food is excellant too. Will definitely be back.Fiery

Great friendly sevice, great tasting and presented food, very enjoyable time. We will be going back again soon, the hardest part is choosing what to have!Tiger131

For three years now we have tried as many different Indian restaurants as we could find and would have to say Corianders is the best. While the quality of the food is excellent and the service outstanding, it would have to be the flavour (or style) of curries that set it above all the others.Khmwines

We have been to Corianders many times and love it because it is so reliable with consistently great service and food. We strongly recommend this restaurant for both couples & groups!Andrew Kim

First time here, service prompt and professional but not overbearing, food great, asked for extra hot (waiter gave me the “are you sure?” and then looked scared when i asked or a bowl of extra chili powder) spotlessly clean enviroment including the toilets. will definately go back asappaul and helen

Corianders is SIMPLY THE BEST Indian restaurant in Christchurch! I have been there several times since they have opened in Edgeware, and before that I was a big fan of their other restaurant in Rolleston (but now we don’t have to drive so far). I would give this restaurant an A+ and if you haven’t tried it, you are really missing out.JennyK

I eat here approx once a month and love it. Food is always very good and staff are Excellent.micky007

I have been to this Restaurant on last Saturday for the first time with my wife and an 8 yr old daughter, and was a great experience. Food and Service were outstanding and is not worth comparing with the rest of the Indian restuarants in the town.Stringer

Rolleston is very lucky to have such a restaurant, Corianders is far superior to other Indian (chain) restaurants in town (Chch) in my opinion. Food, service, staff etc are always excellent.Dan Patrick

Great Food, friendly staff, fully licensed or BYO Wine – modern decor – what more could you want! Consistently good. Takeaways (10% discount) also excellent.Tamsin11

Went to Corianders for the first time unsure how I would like it as havent has much of a taste of indian food before and it was amazing, have been back for takeaways many times since and it is always fast and the service very friendly!Wright72

This restaurant (Both Edgeware and Rolleston) is by far the best around. Those that have not yet dined with Amar and the team truly do not know what they are missing. My favorite – Lamb Posht. Medium. Give it a go!Morphie

We actually used the takeaway service provided by Corianders and picked up which gives you a 10% discount. (They do deliver) The food was just awesome. A big tick from us and we will be back to experience a meal in the flesh. Thank you Corianders. A real breath of fresh air.Paul Fisher

The two notable things about this restaurant were the excellent flavours of the food and the great service – so not much left to complain about! We were a group of six and I believe everybody went away impressed.James

Had takeaways & was very impressed. The onion naan bread was delicious as was the lamb saag & the prawn jalfrezi.Corker

We always find Corianders a great place. We quite often have takeaways and the children just think the food is terrific. I have not been able to fault any of the food we have had from them. Great to see a change in Restaurants here in Rolleston. Keep up the Great work!!Masefield

As a Rolly local I’ve waited a long time for some decent food, Corianders does a decent curry. The Resturant is tidy, cosy, clean and not down market at all. The staff are really friendly and always polite and takeaway orders are ready quickly and have a 10% discount. They come with a very generous serving of rice too. Corianders does a great job of keeping hot food tasty.Mad Murphy

Nice to see a new restaurant in Rolleston. We went there on a Friday night and had the banquet menu, for 6 people, which was 5 entrees, 3 mains, naan, coffee and ice cream for $30 (vege option $27). They were accurate with the heat levels requested for the mains, which was great! Will definately be going back to try more dishes. – Simie

I visited for the first time on 6th June. Food quality was very good. I’m English and am often disappointed by Indian cuisine in NZ. However, my expectations at Corianders were surpassed. The veg samosas were particularly fresh and tasty. Will return v. soon.Mikey Boy

Hanmer Springs Restaurant

Dined here with friends on Sunday night at 6.30. Fully licenced, no BYO wine.
Restaurant was very busy but food arrvied in a timely fashion. Complimentary poppadums a nice touch.
We had a selection of dishes; butter chicken, prawns, vegetarian, naan bread. Food was flavoursome and very good, would definitely be back.
Recommend this for casual, well priced, dining experience.Bubbles4me

Been here a couple of times now and always enjoy the food and the excellent service. My partner is vegetarian and has a great choice. Especially love the naan breads. Feels more like a couples environment but there is space for families.Graeme Moore
