Restaurant Expansions Cater For More Diners: South View Food 14/4/2010

Established four years ago, the popular Corianders Indian restaurant in Rolleston Square has been extended to cater for more diners. Originally seating 55 to 60 people it can now accommodate 100 people.

Owner Amardeep Singh is thrilled with the success of his restaurant, and believes it is due to his well-trained staff, who offer personal, professional service to their customers, and the consistently high quality of the food. The many positive reviews the restaurant has received on its website from happy customers are testament to the quality of the experience offered there.

The menu has also been extended and now includes some exciting signature dishes, which are proving a hit with diners. They include Lamb Posht, a delectable dish featuring tender cubes of lamb sautéed in onion, garlic, ginger, with fresh tomato and coriander, then cooked with roasted poppy seed and spices. It is also available with chicken. Balti Dansak Chicken features various lentils simmered with marinated chicken on a slow fire and tempered with onion, ginger, garlic and spices.

Other taste sensations to look for include Bombay Chicken and Bombay Lamb and Lamb Do Payaza. A special feature of Corianders in Rolleston is the separate area that can be booked for groups celebrating special occasions such as birthdays, engagements and wedding anniversaries or for work functions. It seats up to 45 people and is separated from the other section of the restaurant by the central fireplace, which creates a warm, cosy atmosphere during the cool winter months.

The second Corianders is in the Edgeware Village, while a third location, on Conical Hill Road in Hanmer, is due to open in June, which means you can enjoy your favourite Indian dishes while you are holidaying in Hanmer, either in the restaurant or as takeaways.

If you’re entertaining guests at home, at your house-warming party for example, you can also enjoy the delicious flavours served up by the Corianders chefs. They will bring their portable tandoor oven to your home where they will cook and serve an authentic North Indian buffet feast, complete with starters and hot naan bread for your guests.

No other Indian restaurant is offering this service, says Amardeep, and it is becoming increasingly popular with people around Christchurch.
