Modern style of Rioja, produced by a major co-operative in the subregion of Rioja Alavesa. 100% Tempranillo, steel fermented before 12 months aging in mildly toasted American & French oak. Unfiltered. Deep ruby colour, cherry and blackberry and dusty road on the nose combining with clear oaky notes of toasted vanilla and cinnamon. Good richness in the mouth, with ample body and smooth mouth feel complementing the fruit. Persistent finish with spicy but smooth tannins.

Piochet is a small family estate established 100 years ago in the southern part of Bordeaux, close to Sauternes. It produces just one wine from the 5 hectares of clay-limestone soils , a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The 2016 vintage has blackberry, raspberry and black cherry aromas. It has medium body, with savoury flavours, finishing with light ripe tannins and a full bodied finish.
